The University of Freiburg also keeps sheep and goats. A project initiated by the Chair of Site and Vegetation Science aims to study the grazing of a small area on a hillside. So Waldschafe, a longwool breed of sheep, and Tauernscheck goats, both species threatened by extinction, have been introduced.
