Michael Scherer-Lorenzen - Tree growth in mono- and mixed cultures

"Birds of a feather flock together." This saying has not proven to be true for human couples. Now University of Freiburg geobotanists are studying whether trees are any different in this respect. On a plantation designed expressly for this purpose, they are comparing trees growing in monocultures with trees of the same species growing in mixed stands.
