24.11.2008: Prof. Dr. Svetlana Berdyugina (Kiepenheuer-Institut für Sonnenphysik, Freiburg): The Sun is unique to us. It is the only star which we can explore in unprecedented detail. Understanding physical processes taking place on the Sun is of fundamental importance for insights into the stellar structure and evolution, generation of magnetic fields in the universe as well as star and planet formation. In this talk I will give an overview of some recent achievements in solar physics and their implications for physics and astrophysics.
